Sacramental Preparation

At the heart of the Catholic faith is the reception of the sacraments: ‘The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharist…and the sacraments” Catechism of the Catholic Church(CCC) 1113

  • Second grade students receive the sacraments of Reconciliation in January and Holy Eucharist in May. Together with their teachers, parish priests, and their parents, the children prepare throughout the year during regular religion classes, sacramental meetings, gatherings, celebrations, and attendance at Sunday Mass.
  • Eighth grade students begin their preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation during the fall. Under the guidance of their parents, teachers, and parish priests, they attend Eucharistic adoration, perform acts of service for the needy, participate in an intensive retreat, and attend additional religious education classes focused specifically on the sacrament of Confirmation. In the fall of their freshman year of high school, these students are Confirmed by the Bishop.
  • The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered every Saturday afternoon and on special occasions, such as Advent and Lent, at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. Families are encouraged to receive this sacrament together on an ongoing basis.

”Let the children come to me… for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” Mt 19: 14
