Awards and Recognitions

St. Mary’s is a vibrant school both inside and outside the classroom. The following provides a brief highlight of our 2017-2018 school year in the areas of community service, academics/extracurriculars, and sports.

Community Service

-St. Mary’s students pray daily for those in need. Our students also raised funds and collected food and other needed items to benefit:

  • Hurricanes Harvey and Irma relief efforts
  • Press On Cure for Childhood Cancer
  • Pregnant Choices Medical Center (a pro-life center)
  • Camp Ivey (an adaptive summer camp)
  • Catholic Relief Services
  • Catholic Social Services


-Five St. Mary’s teams competed in the Air Force Association’s CyberPatriot Competition, a national cybersecurity competition. One team placed first in the middle school competition in the state of Georgia, and four St. Mary’s teams advanced to the semi-final round.

-Four St. Mary’s teams competed in the regional STEM Future City Competition at the University of South Carolina-Aiken. One of our St. Mary’s teams earned fifth place overall. St. Mary’s teams also earned Best Protection of the Public, Best Reporter, Most Creative Mobility Solution, Most Creative Use of Materials, and Best Energy System awards.

-Thirty 7th and 8th grade students were inducted into the Junior Beta Club which recognizes students for academic achievement, character, leadership, and service.

-St. Mary's placed first overall in the Catholic Math League Division 3 Pre-Algebra Competition.

-St. Mary’s Academic Team placed third in the region for the PAGE Academic Bowl.

-Twenty-six 7th grade students qualified for Duke University’s Talent Identification Program (TIP). Fifteen of the students chose to sit for the SAT or ACT college-entrance exam. Three of those students qualified for state recognition.

-Four students were selected to participate in the Junior High All-District Chorus.

-A 7th grade student, who plays the French horn, was selected to participate in the All-District Honor Band.

-Two 8th grade students earned second and third place awards in the Diocese of Savannah St. John Vianney 2017 Vocations Essay Contest.


St. Mary’s participates in the Augusta-Aiken Middle School League. For the 2017-2018 season, St. Mary’s football team and boys’ soccer team won their championships. Our boys’ cross country team, basketball team, golf team, and baseball team all earned a second-place finish.
